Is it Maple Syrup Time Yet?

We haven't had a recipe for a while, and our warmer days brought this one to mind.

Baked French Toast

1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup maple syrup
1 loaf French Bread
5 eggs
1 1/2 cup milk
1 tsp vanilla

Melt together the brown sugar, butter, and syrup. Pour into 9x13 greased pan. Slice French Bread into 3/4 inch slices and layer tightly into pan. Mix eggs, milk and vanilla, beating well. Pour over bread. Cover and refrigerate overnight. Uncover, bake at 350° F for 30-40 minutes, until lightly browned. Invert onto large platter.

Serves 6 easily.

  1. Chan has tapped a couple of trees. They are right next to the drive, because the snow is too deep farther in the woods. His four-wheeler is still stuck out there...since Saturday.
